I was told university probably wasn't for me.

I went anyway. Twice. What happened in between — and since — is the reason I do this work.

Building the foundation

My first professional work began during my undergraduate degree, where I worked with student athletes. Many were managing the pressure of competitive sport alongside full time education and part time work. I used sports psychology, motivation theory, and established behavioural frameworks to help them find balance, build resilience, and perform under the kind of sustained pressure that most people underestimate.

During my Master's I trained in play therapy, working with children navigating significant personal difficulty. That environment sharpened skills I continue to use every day: active listening, pattern recognition, empathy, and the ability to communicate across very different contexts. The work was demanding and it was formative.

Following my postgraduate training I worked in children's residential care as a Behavioural Practitioner, supporting young people from neglectful and abusive backgrounds. This was not peripheral experience. It required a level of psychological precision, consistency, and emotional discipline that most professional environments do not come close to replicating.

Covid and corporate

When the pandemic hit, I began offering pro-bono executive and performance coaching to business owners and individuals in corporate environments who were navigating the shift to remote working. What started as a response to an immediate need became one of the most instructive periods of my career.

Working across that volume and variety of cases gave me a significant insight into how environment shapes thinking, motivation, and behaviour at a fundamental level. The disruption of 2020 was, professionally, a live laboratory. The patterns I observed and the frameworks I tested during that period have informed my practice in ways that formal training alone could not have.

How I work

My practice spans over a decade and three very different worlds: high performance sport, clinical and developmental environments, and senior executive coaching. That range was not incidental. It reflects a conviction I have held from the beginning: that the fundamentals of mental performance are consistent.

I am direct, thorough, and I do not deal in reassurance for its own sake. What I offer is clarity and the kind of honest partnership that makes it possible to act on it.

I am not the right fit for everyone, and I have made peace with that. The people who find their way to me are usually ready to do work that most prefer to defer.
